- Walking is the fundamental way a dog can disburse energy for the
day.
- It should be a prelude to ANY other activity. Play time is nice,
but can't possibly substitute for walking.
- Dogs should get a walk before being left alone at home (to
disburse separation anxiety).
- Dogs should get a walk before meals (to simulate the hunting
activity and stimulate appetite).
- Dogs should get a walk before bed at night (to allow elumination
and promote restful sleep).
- Dogs should get a walk before visiting the vet (to disburse
general anxiety).
- Dogs should get a walk after riding in the car for a long period
(in order to stimulate circulation and disburse any pent-up energy).
